how to get over rejection

“I believe that rejection is a blessing because it’s the universe’s way of telling you that there’s something better out there” –  Michelle Phan

All of us will face rejection at some point in life. Some people choose a new path after rejection; however, many others stop trying again, leaving them stagnated.

Depending upon your resilience, you may find it difficult to bounce back from the awful feeling of rejection, and your confidence can take a hit. Conversely, you may grow stronger after rejection because you know how to deal with it.

Either way, rejection still sucks! I have experienced many painful rejections, especially in the entertainment industry, where I was always rejected. My self-worth took a blow, and I had to pick myself up over and over again.

So, how do you get over rejection?

Rejection will show itself in some way or another throughout life, and by learning some essential tips to deal with it, you’ll be stronger for it.

Whether you were excluded from that social engagement, didn’t get that desired job, or got rejected by your crush, your reaction to rejection decides your entire future! Therefore, it must be dealt with in a way that serves your higher good.

Here are five ways on how to get over rejection.

1. Acknowledge your emotions

Start by acknowledging your emotions instead of denying, ignoring, and suppressing your pain. You’re human, and feeling sad, embarrassed, discouraged, or disappointed is perfectly valid.

Whether you have lost a promotion, were rejected on your first date, or “failed” in an interview, it is high time to accept that it is not a big deal and you will get another chance in life. This rejection will only lead to something better and more aligned with who you are!

2. Surround yourself with support

Seek comfort and support from your trusted friends, family, or mentors. Share your feelings with those who uplift and encourage you. A support system can provide valuable perspective, advice, and emotional support during this time. Focusing on what you have instead of what you don’t can work wonders.

3. Learn from rejection

Instead of just tolerating the pain, find the opportunity to grow and become stronger. Let rejection be a teacher or a guide that leads you to a better road on your journey. You might not feel it now, but this rejection may take you to a place or situation that outshines your last.

4. Set new goals and take action

Rejection can be a catalyst for reevaluating your goals and aspirations. Positively use this setback to set new objectives or refine existing ones. Break down your goals into actionable steps and start taking small, consistent actions toward them. Channel your energy into productive pursuits that align with your passions and values.

5. Rejection is only temporary

When you want to know how to get over rejection,  remember it’s not the end of the road but rather a detour on your journey.

Embrace resilience and perseverance as you navigate through challenges. Remember that successful individuals have often faced numerous rejections before achieving their goals. Believe in yourself, stay persistent, and keep moving forward with determination because you are a one-of-a-kind GEM!

The way I look at it is if someone rejects you, then why would you want to be with them or work with them anyway?

Rejection sucks! But if someone has rejected you, try not to take it personally and use that pain you feel to leverage you to become a better you. Don’t let it stop you from taking risks that could lead to fulfilling your desires.
